I first came across this film in school in the latter years and could only watch the first hour because we ran out of time. I did not want to leave at the time because i was instantly ingrossed in it. My first aim when i go back home was to find the film and watch it. Im so glad i did, and was trully thankfull that i watched it when i did. every time i watch this film When the end credits roll a tear rolls down my eyes i slump back in my chair in utter silence and sit there in awe at what i have just seen.

This film is trully a remarkable piece of art, i dont call it a film because its more than that. Its a film that will never get old, the more times you watch it the more you realise what a fantastic an beautilfully written film this is. A simple message about hope, and that no matter how hard life can get and how brutal life can be there is light at the end of the tunnell if you beleive it. I can understand why so many people love this film because it resinates with so many aspects of peoples life and there struggles and it gives them the hope to carry on. When i feel low i always think of this film and road of andy dufraine, and the will power to carry on.
A lot of modern day films are all about CGI and special affects but a simple story with a simple message with beautifull writing and great actors like the shawhank redemption puts modern day film making to shame. This film is still the benchmark of any film and will go down in history as a timeles classic that will move generations to come. This is not just a film its "THE FILM and you either get busy living or get busy dying.
